Clara Whitmore started Foxglove Post in the spring of 2019 from a converted stone outbuilding behind her cottage near Ludlow, Shropshire. The idea was straightforward: she had spent years watching people receive flowers from large online retailers, flowers that had been sitting in a warehouse for days and arrived half-open and odourless. She wanted to post something that actually smelled like a garden. The first orders went to friends, then to friends of friends, then to strangers who had seen a photograph on Instagram. By the end of that first summer she had posted bouquets to addresses in fourteen different counties.

Clara Whitmore trained in floral design at the London College of Garden Design before spending three years as a junior florist at Moyses Stevens on Sloane Street, where she worked on everything from hotel lobby installations to private funeral tributes. In 2019 she left to start Foxglove Post from a converted outbuilding behind her cottage in rural Shropshire, initially posting hand-tied bouquets to friends and family. She is known for her preference for British-grown stems over imported stock, and for her habit of tucking a handwritten note into every order. Outside the studio she keeps a kitchen garden and a small flock of Herdwick sheep.
